I graduated from the Université SLHS de Franche-Comté (Besançon, France). Since then, I obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP), two Diplomas in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI Law and Health options) and an MA in Interpreting and Translation from the University of Salford.

After completing my MA, I worked as a freelance translator and interpreter and I specialised in the legal field. I worked for various translation/interpreting agencies worldwide and I interpreted during various European/international conferences, notably within the frameworks of European Works Councils, Cross-European Educational Projects, Football Associations, aeronautic companies, Eurojustice and ministerial delegations from the French Ministry of Justice. I also gained experience in Public Service Interpreting and worked for various bodies such as Her Majesty’s Prison Service, her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service, NOMS, the Probation Service and numerous police forces.

This breadth of experience feeds into my teaching to enable students to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge of the current translation/interpreting market.

I am the module convenor for all the French modules at UG level and Conference Interpreting at PG level.

I teach on the practical translation and interpreting (conference interpreting and business and public service interpreting) modules (English into French) at UG and PG levels and on more theoretical modules such as Research Methodologies and Approaches in Translation and Interpreting Studies.

I am also teaching on generic French language modules such as French Written Language at UG level and on the University Wide Language Programme.

I am currently studying for a doctoral thesis focusing on the use of video-links in interpreter-mediated situations in England and France and more specifically, the perception of the interpreter’s role(s) in legal settings.

Recently I have been invited to deliver talks on various aspects of Public Service Interpreting (notably Court Interpreting) and Conference Interpreting in various HE Institutions, including the University of Manchester (UK), the University of Bath (UK), The University of Salford (UK), Universitat Jaume I de Castello (Spain) and Université Rennes 2 (France).
