Biography
I have worked at the University of Salford since 2006.
Teaching
I am currently convening four modules: Narrative Fiction and the Novel, Anthony Burgess and his Contemporaries, Popular Fictions and Postmodernism.
I also give lectures on Theory Into Practice and Classical Hollywood Cinema.
I am Programme Leader for English Literature and English Literature with English Language.
Research Interests
My research interests include the presentation of text and how the presence of the book informs readings of fiction. I have published work on Laurence Sterne, Samuel Beckett, B. S. Johnson, Christine Brooke-Rose, Alasdair Gray and Mark Z. Danielewski. I am currently researching the use of page design and graphic elements in contemporary American fiction.
I am also interested in film and television texts and my interests in this field range from comedy to crime genres.
I would be happy to supervise work on any of the topics listed above.
