Biography
I am Senior Lecturer in Arabic at the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences at the University of Salford. I studied Arabic and linguistics at the University of Melbourne, Australia, graduating with a BA (Hons) in linguistics. After completing a PhD in linguistics at the University of Melbourne, I worked for seven years at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman as a lecturer and researcher in Arabic and general linguistics, and Arabic/English translation studies. I moved to Salford in 2010.
Teaching
At Salford I teach on the Arabic translation and interpreting programme. My teaching focus in Arabic lies in Arabic-English translation and Arabic language, and I offer MA and PhD research supervision in any of the areas related to my research interests.
Research Interests
My main research interests are in Arabic/English translation studies, Arabic linguistics (Classical and Modern Standard Arabic), Arabic dialectology (especially Gulf varieties), the Modern South Arabian Languages.
