Leading TV dramatist to help budding scriptwriters plot their future
Award-winning screenwriter Sally Wainwright, creator of BAFTA and Emmy-nominated series At Home with the Braithwaites and writer of ITV detective drama series Scott & Bailey, will be in conversation with BBC Creative Director of New Writing Kate Rowland at the ‘Face 2 Face’ event, organised by BBC writersroom as part of Manchester Literature Festival.
Sarah will offer members of the public with an interest in writing professional advice drawn from a career which encompasses shows such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and drama Unforgiven, for which she received a Royal Television Society award in 2010.
Earlier in the day, founder of BBC writersroom Kate Rowland will hold a workshop for University students on how get scripts produced.
Lecturer in Creative Writing, Jennifer Tuckett, University of Salford lead for the workshops, said: “This is a unique opportunity for our students to learn from one of the most senior figures at the BBC. The BBC have been impressed with our facilities and are using our Digital Performance Lab in MediaCityUK for both events, so we hope this is the start of regular collaboration.”
