Languages

Regular events offered by the School promote the learning of modern foreign languages at different stages of the curriculum to encourage young people to develop a career with languages.

"I liked the variety of activities, the strong oral component, the relaxed atmosphere, the fun of it. I felt it helped my students' confidence"

"Thank you so much. Please invite us next year" - Teachers' comments

Lecturers employ the innovative applied approach to language learning used in our degree teaching. Two free-of-charge talks are available to schools and colleges and are targeted at year 9 and above:

Careers in languages/Why choose languages? The aim of this talk is to  encourage pupils to learn languages by emphasising their usefulness and value in the workplace.

How to choose a university course in languages? Help your linguists to find their way through the mass of universities and courses offering language study and select the best course for them.

Route A6 - Student shadowing scheme

This initiative gives UCAS applicants holding an offer from Salford the opportunity to spend half a day on campus with a current student and to attend a class in the subject area in which they are interested. The initiative is designed to give prospective students a real taste of student life at Salford, and to help them make decisions about their future at university. Apply to shadow a university student.
