Community and engagement
The School has a tradition of engaging with business and the local community and contributing to regional development. Along with this we have a growing portfolio of international partnerships.
One of the keys to our success is our diversity – our various subject areas allow us to collaborate with numerous organisations nationally and globally. The School provides professional training for translators and interpreters, and advises business and industry via our extensive research consultancy across our fields of expertise.
We have numerous links with overseas universities through European schemes such as ERASMUS, which involve visits and exchanges of both students and staff. This enables the production of collaborative taught courses and research activities.
The local community
We have well-established links with schools and colleges across the region and run various curriculum-development activities in conjunction with them.
The School is very active in community interpreting (for the courts, the NHS etc.) and has made a major contribution to the development of Diploma of Public Service Interpreting training in the region.
