Prior to booking onto any of the courses listed, please obtain your line manager's permission to attend.

Risk assessment workshop

A workshop aimed at staff with responsibility for carrying out, or overseeing the risk assessment process. It will equip learners with the skills to understand the purpose and benefits of a risk assessment and enable them to carry out risk assessments within their working environment.

This is a ½ day workshop

IOSH Managing Safely

This is a nationally approved course, which results in the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate from IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety & Health) for successful delegates.

It equips managers, supervisors and those with responsibility for managing aspects of safety in their working environment with the skills needed to understand the practical steps they need to take to manage safely.

This is a 4½ day assessed course

IOSH Working Safely

Working safely is a one-day course designed to deliver safety and health basics in an easy-to-understand, interactive style.

It is an ideal introduction to why health and safety is important. Working safely shows how everyone can make a difference to their own wellbeing and that of others through everyday behaviours.  The course emphasis is on the practical demands of day to day working life rather than legal detail.

Manual handling skills

A course aimed at anyone required to move or handle loads during their work. This session will enable learners to assess their environment, the activity to be carried out, and their own ability, in addition to teaching them to move and handle loads properly.

This is a 2 hour session

Building Controllers Duties

This session is aimed at the Building Controller or Deputy and outlines the principles of fire prevention, how to ensure their building remains safe and the practicalities of evacuating the building in the event of a fire alarm.

This is a 30 minute session

Fire Warden Duties

This session is aimed at the building Fire Wardens and the principles of fire prevention, how to ensure their building remains safe and the practicalities of safely assisting with the evacuation of the building in the event of a fire alarm.

General Ladder and Step Safety Session

This is a general ladder and step safety talk supported by slides and practice of using ladders and steps that  will equip learners with the skills to select the right equipment; carry out the appropriate user checks before use; assess the environment in which it will be used; and use the equipment safely.

This is a 2 hour session

The Ladder Association User & Inspection training

This training is specifically aimed at those whose duty it is to inspect and maintain ladders in their workplace. A Ladder Association certificate and LadderCard will be issued to successful delegates. This has a five year validity period.
