Health and Safety Committee

The Health and Safety Committee assists the senior management in meeting their management responsibilities by providing competent advice and making recommendations.

It is the principle forum across the University for communication and discussion on significant safety, health and wellbeing matters and initiatives. The Law requires all employers to consult with their employees under specific legislation.

  • The Safety Representatives and Safety Committee’s Regulations.
  • The Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations.

Additionally, it informs employees of the significant health and safety issues, which enables more efficient health and safety management and helps to reduce accidents and work related ill health.

The Committee monitors the extent of University compliance against health and safety requirements, and makes recommendations to rectify areas of non-compliance.

The Health and Safety Committee’s remit is detailed in the committee's Term of Reference and Membership
