Salford offers free sports sessions during Universities Week

The University of Salford is offering free swimming, squash and badminton sessions to the local community during the annual Universities Week campaign (30 April – 7 May).

Universities Week runs every year to raise awareness of the contribution universities make to the UK. As this year’s theme is the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Salford is offering the free sports sessions in its University Sports Centre.

Free swimming, squash and badminton will be available at the following times:

  • Monday 30 April – Friday 4 May: 9.00am to 11.00am and 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
  • Late night sessions on Wednesday 2 May and Thursday 3 May: 7.00pm - 9.00pm.
  • Weekend sessions on Saturday 5 May: 11.00am - 1.00pm and Sunday 6 May: 1.00pm – 3.00pm.

(The badminton hall will not be available on Monday due to student exams.)

Head of sport, James Crowley, said: “This year’s campaign is about London 2012 but universities offer wider benefits to the world of sports. By opening our facilities to the community for the week we hope to get more people interested in making sport a regular part of their lifestyle.”
