Deputy PM hails ‘novel and exciting’ public policy research
Deputy Prime Minister the Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP was among a range of high-profile visitors to the University’s stand at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference this week as academics profiled Salford’s wide-ranging research relevant to policy-making.
Professors Neal Hazel and Karl Dayson are pictured with Mr Clegg, who described Salford’s policy solutions as ‘novel and exciting’. Salford was the only university to give public policy research briefings at the Liberal Democrat conference and will also be taking stands at the forthcoming Labour and Conservative Party Conferences. The university is briefing senior politicians on a range of policy areas including energy and climate change, health and home affairs.
Visitors have also included Rt Hon Vince Cable MP, Business Secretary; Rt Hon Ed Davey MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change; Rt Hon Jeremy Browne, Minister of State for the Home Office; and Rt Hon Simon Hughes, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party.
