University of Salford secures internships with Oscar-winning Avid for students
The University of Salford has announced a partnership deal with Oscar®-winning digital media provider Avid®, securing four priceless internships for promising students from its MediaCityUK facility and other faculties.
A global leader in the digital audio and video industry, Avid creates the digital audio and video technology used to make the most listened to, most watched and most loved media in the world.
Four high-flying Salford students will be rewarded with three to six month placements across different digital media disciplines, including associate roles in technology, business development and social media, presenting a superb opportunity to progress within a highly competitive field.
Avid will provide financial support for accommodation and travel, for those students working with the company atPinewood Studios.
Avid will also provide digital media industry experts as guest lecturers, and the collaboration will see students benefitting from top-level industry expertise which has seen the company bag 14 Emmy® Awards, one Grammy® Award and two Oscar statuettes.

This partnership is designed to help our students develop the highest levels of creative and technical skill that will allow world-leaders like Avid to cherry-pick University of Salford students, safe in the knowledge that they have an intimate understanding of such a demanding environment."
Student journalists will be working with the Avid iNEWS® newsroom computer system, which will be the driving force behind the creation and distribution of news for Journalism courses within Salford's new MediaCityUK facility.
Dan Pell, Enterprise Sales Manager for Avid UK, said: "This is hugely exciting and a first for Avid UK. For us, the prospect of working with some of the brightest students in the UK is fantastic as they'll bring a wealth of fresh ideas and insights to the company."
Pell further explained: "The candidates will become part of our team, and they'll gain extensive exposure to our global organisation and customers. We also hope that we'll find the next digital media innovators that will join our business after they graduate."
As part of the sponsorship deal, the newsroom will bear Avid's logo, and an annual report will be created to outline the impact of the support that the partnership has generated.
