Top teaching award for Salford lecturer

Helen KeeganSalford lecturer Helen Keegan (pictured right) has been awarded one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country for excellent in higher education teaching.

Helen, a senior lecturer in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering, was chosen to receive the National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Helen teaches BSc(Hons) Professional Sound and Video Technology 

She has an international reputation for originality and digital innovation, actively using a wide range of social and mobile technologies to develop and disseminate ideas, constantly improve her teaching and inspire students.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Martin Hall commended Helen on her achievement. “This is great news for Helen and great news for the University,” he said. “Helen’s teaching takes students into the future in constantly creative ways.”

Submissions for the award have to be backed by the nominee’s institution and show evidence of individual excellence, raising and profile of excellence and developing excellence.
