Students bring Ordsall Hall gossip to life

The livelier side of Ordsall Hall is being brought to life by University of Salford students.

Caith WallaceStories about the Hall’s maids, masters, soldiers and even ladies of the night are among those being created by performing arts students from the university.  Under the title ‘Between you and me’, visitors can eavesdrop on a topsy-turvy history evoked with gossip, echoes, comedy and drama during the performances this week and next.

Ordsall Hall maid The second-year students on the BA (Hons) Performing Arts programme in the School of Media Music & Performance have created unique indoor and outdoor heritage interpretations based on the many biographies and stories associated with Ordsall Hall, which reopened in 2011 after a £6m renovation, and still contains some of its 14th century structure. They worked in partnership with staff and curators at the Hall and Richard Talbot, Roland Metcalf and Niki Woods, who all have experience of professional performance, directing or production.
