Experts and business talk energy efficiency this month at Salford
With its award winning house in a lab and the re-opening of the historic home of physicist James Joule as a research centre, the University of Salford is fast becoming a leader in the energy sector.
Part of that work is Retrofit 2012 – the second major conference to be organised by the University to look at issues of reducing fuel poverty and making our homes more energy efficient.
From 24 to 26 January, the Lowry theatre in Salford will host business leaders, academics and politicians to discuss and debate the best way forward in this huge and pressing issue.
With 70% of the homes we’ll be living in by 2050 already built and the Government introducing its flagship Green Deal policy right now, the timing couldn’t be more important.
Speakers confirmed so far include:
- Professor Kevin Anderson, Deputy Director, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research
- Dr Jason Palmer, Director, Cambridge Architectural Research Ltd
- Professor Ian Cooper, Partner, Eclipse Research Consultant
- John Ashcroft, Chief Executive, pro manchester
