MediaCityUK building leads University developments

State of the art facilities aid learning

The University of Salford's £30m investment at MediaCityUK represents a forward-thinking, innovative approach to ensuring that education, knowledge, innovation and creativity are at the heart of the digital future of the UK.

Situated at the centre of the vibrant North West digital community, next to the new studios at the MediaCityUK and underneath the building which will soon house ITV, the University’s state-of-the-art facilities include the new generation of television and radio studios, production suites and a digital infrastructure which has been informed and specified by industry and future-proofed for emerging technologies.

The University’s close partnerships with major businesses such as BT, Adobe and Avid are breaking new ground and informing the continued development of courses and research projects for more than 1,500 students on 30 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including journalism, animation, film production and professional sound and video.  The Salford Business School full-time MBA course also runs from MediaCityUK, giving another international dimension to studying there.

The development is part of longer-term plans to transform the University’s main campus which include:

  • A new Arts Building which will inspire students’ excellence and creativity
  • New residences for students, combining accommodation and learning with sports and social facilities
