Diane Modahl coaches young Salford swimmers

The University of Salford has teamed up with former Olympic athlete and Commonwealth Games medallist Diane Modahl to coach local children in swimming and water sports skills.

Diane, who is an Honorary Graduate of the University, has worked with students and staff to create a programme of sports activity through the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation, the Amateur Swimming Association and the City of Manchester Water Polo Club.

Around 120 local primary school children have taken part in training sessions in the University’s pool and took part in a series of swimming galas.  The overall winning school was St Philip’s, Salford. Some of the star swimmers will be going on to do further training with the Foundation and the University in the coming months as part of structured summer holiday activities.
