Biography
Dr Phil Graham-Smith is a BASES accredited Sports Biomechanist and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
His Phd focused on the biomechanics of the long and triple jumps, and has provided biomechanical support to UK Athletics for over 20 years. In that time he has assisted numerous Olympic, World and Commonwealth champions both in the training and competitive environments.
For the last 3 years Phil has also been the technical lead for Biomechanics for the English Institute of Sport, providing strategic leadership and mentoring of the Biomechanics team.
Phil was formerly the Director of Sport within the School of Health Sciences. Within that time he pioneered and developed the sports partnerships with Salford Reds, Sale Sharks and Lancashire CCC. His vision has enabled the partnerships to form an integral part of the student experience and has facilitated high impact research in Strength & Conditioning and Sports Injury Rehabilitation.
Phil is currently Associate Head for Engagement within the School of Health Sciences.
