Biography
Dr Simon Cassidy is Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Programme Leader for the MSc Applied Psychology (Therapies). His areas of teaching include psychology in contemporary contexts and psychology and education. He is a recipient of the Vices Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. Research projects include investigating how social identity can explain the proliferation of mobile phone use and its associated health impact and how self-regulation and self-efficacy impact on education, performance and Internet use. Current projects involve the psychology of resilience and exploring cognitive style through brain imaging and eye movement. He has published in prestigious international journals of health and educational psychology and worked with the prominent American psychologist Robert J. Sternberg on his latest publication Handbook of Intellectual Styles. Dr Cassidy is a Chartered Psychologist, a Chartered Scientist, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Teaching
Areas of teaching include psychology in contemporary contexts, psychology and education and project supervision. He is a recipient of the Vices Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
