Biography
I joined the University of Salford in September 2009 to undertake a GTA/PHD full time. I am two years in to my study entitled: living with motor neurone disease, receiving health care and the impact on self and identity. The positioning of my research is hermeneutic phenomenology inspired by the philosophies Heidegger and Gadamer. The six participants for the study have been recruited through the neurological centre at Hope Hospitals. I have chosen life story as a method of data collection, asking people to talk about their illness journey. I am to complete the study by September 2013 and the thesis by June 2014.
The GTA role has involved teaching on various modules, and being involved in viva assessments, and marking. The experience has been rewarding, and I value being part of the occupational therapy team.
