Dr Adam Galpin

Senior Lecturer in Psychology

Biography

Adam has been with the University of Salford since 2007. Adam is the programme leader for the UK’s first MSc in Media Psychology taught at Salford’s new campus at MediaCity UK. Adam teaches modules on media psychology and technology use at postgraduate level, and contributes to undergraduate modules in cognitive psychology and individual differences.

Adam graduated in Psychology from the University of Sussex before following a research career in cognitive psychology and visual perception with posts at the universities of Cambridge, Manchester and Nottingham. Throughout this time, his research interests have developed to focus on how people engage and interact with visual tools and objects. He specialises in tracking eye-movements to understand how people process visual stimuli, having published on reading, driving, picture processing, Parkinson’s disease and the use of prosthetics. More recently, his research has involved collaboration with the BBC studying how pre-school children engage with the CBeebies website.
