Biography

I joined as a lecturer in Public Health in early 2013 and am currently nearing completion of a PhD relating to dental public health with 6-7 year olds (a matched cluster control trial). My research has contributed to the outputs of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Oral Health Research in Deprived Communities. This also provided opportunities to engage with international public health professionals including the Malaysian Ministry of Health, public health policy officials from Japan and at the WHO in Geneva, as well as sharing research outputs at international conferences in Spain, Italy, Canada and the UK. I have also been a lead author on a Cochrane review to evaluate the effectiveness of ‘Primary school-based behavioural interventions for preventing caries’.

My postgraduate research and experience has had a specific focus on children. I have experience linked to my MSc of working as a play therapist with primary school aged children and as a counsellor to teenagers. My current interests are how we can integrate connected health areas and the potential of new technology within behaviour change interventions with children.
