Salford professor appointed to prestigious NHS role
The University’s Professor of Public Health, Eileen Fairhurst, has been appointed as the new Chair of East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Professor Fairhurst is an experienced leader in the NHS and was awarded an MBE for her contribution to the service in 2008. She first became a member of a Community Health Council in 1976, and since then she has held many non-executive appointments in acute, specialised mental health and primacy care trusts.
More recently she was appointed as Chair of NHS Greater Manchester and Independent Chair of the External Reference Group for the Greater Manchester ‘Healthier Together’ service.
Professor Fairhurst said: “I look forward to working with the committed staff at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust to ensure that people receive the best services. I will be getting out and meeting people so that the Trust can work collaboratively with partners outside the organisation.”
The appointment is from 1 February 2014 until 31 January 2016.
