Dr Julia Ryan

Director of Pre-Qualifying Nursing Education

I qualified as nurse in 1981, and following clinical and management experience in coronary care, acute care, and the rehabilitation and continuing care of older people, moved to work fulltime in education in 1987.  I have extensive experience in nurse education, including curriculum design, programme management, project management and research.

My specialist area is work with older people, and research interests are primarily focused on work with older people, particularly in long term and rehabilitative care.  This has involved working in a number of inter-professional and interdisciplinary research teams.  In particular, much of this work has sought to explore ways in which older people can have meaningful involvement with research and researchers.
