About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

We are in the process of developing a learning package.

Students will spend the first day with their assessor and will be allocated to mentors within the department.

Discussion will take place regarding Learning opportunities and their objectives during their stay in the pre-op clinic.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

Each student will be allocated their assessor, but they will also work with mentors within the department during their stay allocated by their assessor.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Early:

7.30am-2.30pm

Late:

1.30pm - 9.00pm

Night:

8.45pm- 7.45am

Shift Notes:

Pre-op Clinic hours 07.45-16.45 with a half day 07.45-12.45

  • Enhanced recovery for colorectal patients
  • Research at present by Macmillan nurses re colorectal patients within pre-op clinic.
