About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

All students will be allocated a mentor/associate mentor prior to the commencement in practice. The student will receive a welcome pack and will receive a full orientation and induction during the first 48 hours.

Students are welcome to have a pre-visit to the service and partake in their induction prior to commencement in practice and time will be given in lieu (optional). Please contact the placement no sooner than two weeks prior to commencement to arrange your shift pattern.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

All students are allocated a mentor or associate mentor to support them in practice.

We can also accommodate third year final students with the support of a sign off mentor.

All mentor/associates and sign off mentors are updated on an annual basis as required by the NMC (2008) and are registered on the Live register for mentors held by the Practice Education Facilitators.

In the event of your allocated mentor being unavailable for annual leave or sickness alternative arrangements will be made to support your practice.
