About this placement
What is organised for students on commencement of placement?
- Off duty
- Work with specialist nurses
- Working with mentor
- Visits to ECG
- CF clinic
- Catheter lab.
What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?
Each student is allocated a mentor, aim to work min of 2 shifts per week with them excluding nights and Annual Leave.
What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?
Long Day:- 07.30 - 20.00
What patient care situations are available in this placement?
- From general situations to arrest/emergency situations.
- Most patients are chronically or critically ill and require specialist nursing.
What nursing model is used for planning care?
Manchester model, Integrated Care Pathway (ICP)

- Feeding intake output

- All aspects of caring for sick child
