Experience working in a community setting with a largely well population. Health promotion and Safeguarding children is the focus of this placement which includes collaborative working with other agencies where spoke placements are available.

Mentor and associate mentor organised pre commencement of placement.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?




Shift Notes:

No shifts. Hours 9 - 5pm, Mon - Fri Wear appropriate mufti. No jeans,trainers, leggings etc. Please wear ID badge at all times.

What patient care situations are available in this placement?

Clinic environment: Weighing , measuring, GP contact. Health Assessments at 9 months and 2 yrs. By the end of placements students under supervision will complete an assessment and care plan. Some Child in Need Safeguarding contacts.

What nursing model is used for planning care?

Assessment Framework Triangle: Child safeguarding and promoting welfare.

What core clinical skills can be learnt?

Child development. Weights, measuring. Communication , liason and referral skills. Assessment and relationship interactions

What additional clinical skills can be learnt?

Weaning Review of A&E forms and suitable actions.

What resources are available to help students learning?

Colleagues expertise. Information Folder Internet Books

What research and practice development activities are being undertaken?

Spoke Placements

Childrens Centres, Midwife, Shool Nurses, Speech and language, Safeguarding Social Workers, YPAS, ETC
