About this placement

What is organised for students on commencement of placement?

Students should arrive at 9am on the first day and 8.30am on subsequent days unless otherwise arranged.

On the first day students will be met by their mentor/another member of the team and shown around the centre and introduced to to other members of the team. During the first day the student will  go through the induction with a member of the team as per PAD.  The students will be directed to student resources and information and given an overview of the School Nurse Service.

A timetable should be available for the student detailing initial weeks work.

What are the arrangements for mentors/assessors?

Students will be allocated a mentor within the team prior to commencement of placement.  Students are asked to contact placement on week before commencement to confirm their arrival and address any initial concerns we may have.

What shift patterns are students allocated for learning?

Shift Notes:

School Nursing Service working hours are 08.30 - 16.30 Monday to Friday - all students are expected to comply with these hours.

Some Nurses Teams work term time only but this will not be applicable to students.

Additional Information

Students who will require a placement Risk Assessment for any reason, including pregnancy or a support need, should contact the PEF team on at least two weeks before their placement commences.

Students are not expected to wear uniform but should present in smart casual clothes with enclosed to shoes and no nail polish

Students should bring their DBS certificate with them

Students are expected to be enthusiastic adult learners
