About the School

The School of Health and Society is a forward-thinking, dynamic school with a commitment to lifelong learning and real world impact.

We live in a rapidly changing world, and we’re keen to leave a productive legacy of helping people at all stages of their lives, improving their physical, psychological and social wellbeing. We are passionate about research and problem solving on a large scale, but we also remain focused on the all-important smaller details, which directly affect people on a daily basis. We are focused on developing our knowledge and understanding, so we can actively help people, our clients, to lead more productive, comfortable lives. We have a fantastic range of facilities which reflect those in practice and allow our students to experience simulated scenarios in a safe environment before going out into the real-world.

The School of Health and Society recognises the importance of ensuring all our students are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to develop a fulfilling and successful career. The School offers a wide range of undergraduate courses for today’s challenging health and social care environment, incorporating clinical placement and work experience opportunities. At postgraduate and post qualifying level, we offer the opportunity to specialise further in subjects including diabetes care, dementia care, advanced practice for nursing and social care, and leadership and management for healthcare practice.

We aim to develop talented and committed professionals to make a difference in the real world. All of the courses we offer are designed to be flexible and to maximise employability after study.

We offer a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees
  • Workforce development
  • CPD and single modules
  • Consultancy
  • Project management
  • Bespoke training

Our courses are informed by the latest research and we work closely with organisations from both the public and private sector to ensure our teaching is at the forefront of practice.

Whether just starting out, already qualified or at research level, we provide everything our students need to enhance their career or embark on a new one. Once qualified, we can offer CPD opportunities from single study days to full master’s degrees that will further enhance a student’s chosen career.
