Socio-economic Issues and Aspects of a Low-Carbon Lifestyle
This is a complex, but vitally important area. Over recent years there has been a move towards encouraging lifestyles that involve lower energy consumption and take-up of clean energy technologies.
Understanding how these measures will aid reduction in emissions is crucial, and research is already underway in areas such as energy demand management and user response, urban knowledge for shaping infrastructure and the social acceptability of hydrogen energy.
The study areas range from individual and community energy use issues, led by the Salford Housing and Urban Studies Unit, to systemic change for cities as identified in the Retrofit 2050 project being undertaken by the Sustainable Urban and Regional Futures team.
