Staff self help

Staff employed directly by the University of Salford get a full staff account. For this you need your personnel number, surname, and date of birth. Once you have these details, register for an account.

If you are not directly employed by the University of Salford, your line manager should already have arranged for an Associate account. They will have details of your initial username and password, with a link to a webpage for you to validate your account.

If you are a manager looking to set up an Associate account, for a new member of staff not directly employed by the University, complete the form to request an Associate account.

University network passwords must be changed at least every 180 days. Passwords must be at least nine characters long, and must include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers. They cannot be the same as a previous password, and cannot contain your name.

To change your password:


If you are using a University PC on-campus, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete whilst already logged in and select the "Change a password…" option.

If you are using a University Mac on-campus, click the Apple menu, then "System Preferences…", then the "Users & Groups" icon, and finally "Change Password…" next to your name.

If you are off-campus, log on to the Remote Access Portal, then select the Outlook Web App (OWA) link. Click Options at the top right, then "Change Your Password…"

If you prefer to use a self-service channel to initiate Help & Support, you can do this via My IT Desk.

My IT Desk enables electronic access to the IT Case Management system, providing you the opportunity to log and track IT cases. Regardless of the support channel you've chosen to log an individual case, all cases will be visible in My IT Desk.

If your unfamilar with My IT Desk, further information is available within the Service Desk section of the website. Alternatively if you've used it before, you can log into My IT Desk using your IT Account username and password.
