PgCert Upper Limb Orthopaedics

Applicants should be doctors with MBBS, MBChB or equivalent, or BSc (Hons) graduates with an appropriate health care degree.

Prospective students will usually be required to have achieved a 2.1 Honours Degree, but consideration will be given to students with a 2.2 Honours Degree with appropriate experience and satisfactory references.

You must be in clinical practice to complete the second module, ‘Extending Proficiencies in Orthopaedics’ and to be awarded the PgCert award.

If your  first language is not English you will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English – IELTS – a minimum overall score of 6.5 in any component is required with no element below 6.

Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.

The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.

Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

English Language Requirements

International applicants will be required to show a proficiency in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 (no element below 5.5) is proof of this.

Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and GPs.

Applicant profile

Students attending this course will be those with a specialist interest in Upper Limb Orthopaedics or doctors and therapists who have chosen to specialise in an area of the Upper Limb require further, more bespoke training which aligns to service provision either in their Trust or in private practice.

You will need to have a background in orthopaedic management and assessment.
