This flexible part-time course is aimed at anyone working with people who have mental health issues. It will enhance and increase your range of skills and confidence, help you gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of therapeutic interventions and enable you to influence change at work.
Course Structure
You have the option to choose between the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or the Personality Disorder pathway.
You can complete the course in 18 months if you study two modules at a time or you can take up to five years. To complete the full degree you will need to take four core modules and two optional modules.

Evidence-based Practice 1
Explores the research process and how it is used to support best practice

Core Skills and Concepts
Looks at human behaviour and enhances your skills of assessment and intervention. This module also examines the current political, social, professional and ethical guidance that influences mental health care

Leading Change, Influencing Practice
Develops your leadership skills and helps you promote effective communication and relationship strategies, giving you the skills and knowledge to influence change in the workplace.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Complex Cases
Enhance your skills in the use of CBT, enabling you to work with clients with complex and/or long-term needs. It also provides you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to begin applying CBT in clinical practice. This route is ideal for those who wish to cover the training requirements for BABCP accreditation.

Personality Disorder
Will help you acquire the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet the needs of clients with complex needs/personality disorder. It also helps you critically appraise the diagnosis, therapeutic practice and institutional systems that affect therapeutic work.

Brief Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Interventions
Equips you with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills and interpersonal awareness necessary to understand and apply brief cognitive behavioural interventions to your clinical practice.

To demonstrate understanding of the impact of physical difficulties in clients with mental health problem.
