80% of graduates have, in the past six years, moved into broadcasting jobs as camera operators, editors, sound assistants, researchers and assistant producers. Former students are working at the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and for independent companies across the UK.

The typical graduate of the programme can anticipate good entry prospects into a career in TV and film documentary and features production including positions in content development and research; camera; editing and producing at many of the most notable independent production companies and with corporations such as Nine Lives Media; BBC; RDF; Provision; ITV and Channel 4.

The drive and determination of our graduates, together with their industry awareness, and the professional skills developed through engagement in the course and the opportunities that it facilitates, all contribute to the employability of a graduate of MA TV Documentary production.

Creative development, modules in producing and the technical proficiency that graduates of the programme display are all desirable qualities for the prospective employer.

Alumni Profile

2004 Todd Austin won a BAFTA for best documentary of the year for his film Lager, Mum and Me.

In 2009 the documentary Carefree won RTS NW Best Newcomers Award.
