This course has an emphasis on research and student-centred learning which aims to develop your understanding and skills in becoming a critical practitioner. You will also have the opportunity to follow a particular pathway in any aspect of social work such as mental health, children and families, older people and disability.
This course is designed to enable you to integrate knowledge, theory, research and practical understanding and use this understanding in the field of professional practice.
This course comprises 50% academic study and 50% practice learning in a social work/care workplace setting.

Considers how social workers can intervene in the lives of those accessing services and theories underpinning those interventions.

covers ways in which different professional groups work together to provide services for people accessing social work/care.

Critical Professional Practice (20 credits)
100 day supervised placement in a social work/care setting in which you have the opportunity to learn and develop professional skills and practice knowledge.

Applied Professional Practice (20 credits)
Gives you the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of work with children and families or adults. The module enables you to consider in detail relevant legislation and policy in your chosen area and factors concerning how assessments are conducted with people accessing social work/care services.
