MSc/PgDip Quantity Surveying

This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to develop a successful career as a quantity surveyor in the modern construction industry. You will gain the knowledge to plan and organise the procurement and financial management of projects whilst also gaining the skills to administer and manage construction contracts.

Career Prospects

A career in quantity surveying is diverse and exciting, giving you the chance to travel and shape the world that we live in, with the role of the surveyor to measure, value, protect and enhance the world's physical assets. With the increased focus on the environment and sustainability in the planning of construction projects there has developed a strong demand for and short supply of quantity surveyors to provide a cost management service, both financially and environmentally to the construction industry.

This course has been designed to help you plan and organise the procurement and financial management of projects whilst also giving the skills to administer and manage construction contracts. Our course will equip you with the skills to critically examine existing construction practices while evaluating alternative strategies to set in motion a process for improvement in construction. This course will provide you with the skills demanded by clients who rely on the quantity surveyor's knowledge and judgement to keep a project running smoothly.

The full Masters award is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) allowing exemption from their academic entry requirements.

Guest lecturers from industry with expertise in relevant areas are invited to give lectures throughout the duration of the course. Site visits are organised each year in co-operation with local construction companies, these give full-time students the opportunity to visualise what you learn and apply it to a real-world context.
