This course comprises of six Level 3, 20 credit modules, of which ‘Professional Practice Consolidation’ must be completed first (you are exempt from this if you have a PQ1 Certificate which can be used for APL).
Once the consolidation module is completed you may take the remaining modules in any order. This could mean taking one module per semester however if the desire is to complete the award in two years you will need to take two modules in one of the semesters each year.
Professional Practice Consolidation (20 credits)
Consolidate and consistently demonstrate professional competence in direct work with users of social care services. Address the full range of social work competencies across all the units of the national occupational standards for social work
The remaining five modules can be taken in any order.
Critical Reflexivity, Policy and Research in Contemporary Child Care (20 credits)
Overview of contemporary child care research, law and social policy, as well as developing your ability to apply a critical reading framework to child care law, policy and evidence-based research/practice.
Working with Children and Young People (20 credits)
Further develop your skills in communicating, engaging and working with children and young people in a manner which empowers children and young people to participate in decisions affecting their lives.

Assessment and Intervention in Child Care (20 credits)
Develop your understanding of the latest knowledge in relation to assessment and intervention in child care.
Developing Collaborative Care in Practice (20 credits)
Critically analyse the theory, process and outcomes of inter-agency practice, to frame appropriate potential solutions to inter-agency problems and conflicts, and to exercise appropriate personal responsibility.
Enabling Learning (20 credits)
Prepares you to teach and assess the practice of student social workers and mentor and support students and colleagues.
