The top up course in Professional Broadcast Techniques is a one year full time BSc (Hons) course that aims to produce broadcast quality training for technically able students and to provide an overview of the range of technology employed across the media broadcasting and distribution disciplines.

Course details

There is a compulsory Honours Project which may be either a team project such as a documentary, a drama or a studio programme or an individual piece of research presented as a written report (8-10,000 words or equivalent) possibly illustrated by audio, video or web artefacts.

Also compulsory is the Professional Broadcast Techniques lecture series that addresses video recording formats, sound formats, audio quality, video streaming formats, compression, resolution, bandwidth, platforms and transfer protocols, HDTV, IPTV, mobile TV & systems, digital cinema & 3D TV and streaming for broadcasting.

The remaining half of the course is supported by a choice of 3 optional modules from a suite of ten.
