A varied range of teaching activity takes place on the MRes (Music) at Salford, such as:
Lectures, lecturer led discussion in seminars, workshops, one-to-one tutorials and supervisory meetings, in-class collaborative exercises, student led debates in seminars, online tuition through the use of the University’s Virtual Learning Environment.

Staff Profile
Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver is Reader in Digital Performance and head of the Performance Research Centre in the School of Media, Music & Performance. She has been a professional performer, writer and video maker for over 20 years, performing internationally across the fields of contemporary music, theatre, and dance. Most recently her performance work has involved developments with the Digital Double and this has evolved into research on characterful human-to-technology interfaces. She is leader of the ‘As Yet Impossible: in human performance’ research project, which is examining the development of new performance paradigms.
Dr Benjamin Halligan
Dr Benjamin Halligan is the Director of the Graduate Programme for the School of Media, Music & Performance. His publications include Michael Reeves (Manchester University Press, 2003), Mark E Smith and The Fall: Art, Music and Politics (Ashgate, 2010; co-edited with Michael Goddard), Reverberations: The Philosophy, Aesthetics and Politics of Noise (Continuum, 2012; co-edited with Michael Goddard and Paul Hegarty) and, forthcoming, Resonances: Noise and Music (Continuum, 2013; co-edited with Michael Goddard and Nicola Spelman) The Music Documentary (Routledge, 2013; co-edited with Kirsty Fairclough and Robert Edgar). He has published on disco music and science fiction, The Sarajevo Documentary School, Dušan Makavejev, Frank Zappa, Andrei Tarkovsky and the British Royal family.
