Mental health nurses provide care for people experiencing mental health problems, working in the community, specialist hospitals or health centres. You will learn about how to support people during the most acute phases of their distress, how to work with people who have issues around substance misuse or offending behaviour and how to help those with ongoing mental health problems.
50% of your studies will be spent in clinical practice in hospital and community settings, within the NHS and independent sector, across Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale or Salford. You will spend time in a well supported environment, working alongside qualified nurse mentors.
In the third year you have the opportunity to go on an international placement to experience care outside of the UK for example, in Sweden or Germany.
On successful completion of this course you will have a recognised degree qualification that leads to registration, as a qualified nurse, with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
