BA (Hons) Music
- International students can apply
On graduation many students go on to develop careers in music education (teachers, advisors, lecturers); arts administration, as well as freelance performers and composers. We have many students that go on to study at Masters and Doctoral level.
Career Prospects
Many of our students go on to gain employment teaching music. Students are actively encouraged to participate in the Student Associate Scheme, which provides students with the opportunity to gain classroom work experience while studying.
Many of our students use their technology experience to gain employment or self-employment in studios, or run their own studios around the country for both music and TV.
One of our graduates even did the live sound for a national political party conference recently.
Many students also use the business experience gained in the course to promote bands - their own or others. For some this turns out to be a full-time occupation.
We also have a number of students that go on to develop freelance careers as performers or composers.
Alumni Profile
The recording artist Kristyna Myles and two members of the group Everything Everything are graduates of Music at the University of Salford. The practical, applied nature of the course prepared the way for their success, in terms of their exposure to performance, composition and technology.
Another one of our graduates, Kelly Wood, works for the Musicians Union in the North West. Kelly studied aspects of arts administration as part of her course, during which time she attained a placement with Granada Studios.
