This course is 85 weeks in length. Throughout the course you are allocated a personal tutor and a mentor in practice.
The course is 50% theory and 50% practice, this is comprised of block weeks in University and clinical placements.
Year one
Year one focuses on all aspects of normality throughout the childbirth continuum. You will be encouraged to link theory to practice by maintaining evidence of reflection and reflective learning in your personal development plan and portfolio.
Semester One
Midwifery Theory and Practice 1 (Post RN) - 40 credits
Semester Two
Midwifery Practice (Post RN 1 and 2) - 20 credits each
Year Two
Year two focuses on the more complex aspects of midwifery care and practice. You will be encouraged to develop you critical thinking skills and progress towards becoming a competent autonomous practitioner.
Semester One
Complex Midwifery -20 credits
Midwifery Practice (Post RN 3) - 20 credits
Semester Two
Midwifery Research - 20 credits
Midwifery Practice (Post RN 4) - 20 credits
Semester Three
Midwifery Theory and Practice 2 (Post RN) - 40 credits
