The major aim of putting management theory into practice will be developed through a variety of strategies to include lectures, and student-centred learning opportunities, including interactive tutorials, group discussion, problem-based learning, case studies and the business simulation.
Various pathways are offered to meet the needs of both full and part-time students. Course delivery is designed to be flexible and includes the option of evening and weekend attendance where appropriate.
Substantial use will be made of distance learning through the University's Virtual Learning Environment and a wide range of academic journals and texts, in both paper and electronic format.
Tutorials serve as an opportunity to reflect on the lecture material and generally assist the learning process through discussion and group work. The dissertation elements offer a further opportunity for you to apply your knowledge and skills in a less structured environment.
Assessment
Assessment strategy consists of:
- Examinations involving discursive essay topics, problem case studies, or a combination
- Continuous assessment through assignments, small scale problem solving and multiple choice exercises
- Group and individual project work, including elements of the dissertation
- The Individual Research Project will develop and assess participants' capacity to undertake research according to sound methodological principles.
- The assessment strategy will aim to rigorously assess academic arguments as well as the application of theory. It will also expect participants to demonstrate a practical and integrative approach to a problem area or issue.
