MA (European Masters) Ludic Interfaces

Candidates that have been preselected by an entrance committee* will be required to demonstrate the following qualifications to be accepted by the University of Salford:

A first degree (normally at 2:1 or above) covering relevant background to the programme: media studies, games studies, computer and video games, art and design, computer science, heritage, fine art, or equivalent industrial expertise or artistic practice. Applicants with an undergraduate degree of 2:2 will be considered where a high quality portfolio of appropriate practice-based work is presented.

*An entrance committee, including a member of each of the three institutions, will work together to evaluate portfolios and other evidence uploaded to the VLE from prospective students for the European Masters in Ludic Interfaces. The committee will then contact the students and bring the successful candidates into one of the partner institutions individual University formalised selection prodecures, depending on the choice of home institution.

Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

Consideration will also be given to applicants with non-conventional qualifications.

The course welcomes mature student applicants and students from a range of backgrounds. Appropriately experienced applicants will be considered in line with the University’s Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) procedure.

English Language Requirements

The presentation of a portfolio as evidence for artistic and technical skills is required. International candidates will have to meet the standards of an IELTS of 6.5.

Suitable For

The students attending the course will come from different educational backgrounds: media studies, programming, game design, psychology, exhibition design or from the industry.

Applicant profile

Applicants will have a background in media or game studies, computer and video games, art and design, computer science or equivalent or artistic practice with a 2:2 minimum entry requirement. Mature students will also be welcome with appropriate experience and can be evaluated through the University Accreditation and Prior Learning (APL) system.
