This course aims to provide practitioners who are involved in the non-surgical management of lower limb and foot pathologies with higher level clinical skills to enhance patient care.

Attendance is minimal and you will benefit from a teaching team focused on providing strong student support.

You will be able to focus on particular diseases/conditions which match your own area of practice/interest, for example, diabetes, rheumatic diseases.

You will be taught by subject experts in the field including Professor Chris Nester, Professor Richard Baker and Dr Richard Jones in a series of masterclass days.

Course details

This postgraduate certificate takes one year part-time to complete It is made up of two modules, one module completed per semester.

Year 1

Semester 1

Patient Focused Approach to Lower Limb Assessment (30 credits)

The aim of this module is to provide you with the ability to apply new evidence and embed new concepts of assessment of the lower limb into clinical practice. Aspects of assessment include gait analysis, vascular assessment, use of ultrasonography in addition to other factors included in a holistic, patient focused approach.

Semester 2

Management and Rehabilitation of People with Lower Limb Pathologies (30 credits)

The aim of this module is to provide you with the ability to apply new evidence and embed new concepts of management of the lower limb into clinical practice. Aspects of management include foot pressure and gait management, physical therapies, patient education and health behaviour, mental health and outcome measurement.
