The leisure and tourism industries cover a broad range of fields. You could find yourself working in any one of a number of organisations including tour operators and travel agents; national, regional and local tourist boards; tourist attractions such as ancient buildings, historical sites and theme parks; leisure and sports centres; art galleries and museums; accommodation; and food and drink at travel providers such as airlines, railways, coach, cruise ships and ferries. You could start in a supervisory or junior management post, as a shift supervisor or as a duty officer.

Recent years have seen a great expansion of leisure and sporting activities, and a greater range of employment opportunities now exists in the private and public sectors. Management positions in local government, sports development, coaching, the countryside, and parks and amenities are some of the career options available to you as a graduate of this course.

You can choose to spend 12 weeks on a work placement which provides you with the opportunity to develop and apply your functional and operational skills within a realistic working environment. The placement is vital for the business experience that most employers desire from a graduate and many of you may be asked to return to your placement companies when qualified.
