LLB (Hons) Law

  • International students can apply
  • Work placement opportunity

The career opportunities for law graduates are broad. Many of our students will choose to continue down the legal path and become a solicitor or a barrister, but a high number pursue careers in other areas such as the financial industry, teaching, probation or social work, managerial roles and the police.

Studying law will enable you to go onto a wide range of future careers both within and outside the law. As well as barristers and solicitors, students may go onto work in local government, the financial industry, the probation service, in many different managerial roles and some will become legal academics.

Our first cohort of students graduated from Salford Law School in July 2010. Many of them are now studying for their Legal Practice Course or the Bar Professional Training Course, to allow them to continue to qualify as solicitors and barristers. Other students are working as paralegals or legal executives, some in administrative roles and many have continued onto postgraduate qualifications.

Studying law prepares you for a wide range of different careers and your degree will be highly sought after by employers of all kinds.

Industry Links

The School has strong links with the legal profession, industry and governmental and professional bodies, to enhance teaching and careers advice and with other UK and international universities for research opportunities. Our partners provide work placement opportunities for our law students and sponsor annual student prizes.

Salford Law School is unique in the fact that it offers paralegal placements with a North West law firm for the duration of 9 - 12 months. This takes place between years two and three and students have the opportunity to learn valuable work based skills within a professional legal environment.

This is an excellent opportunity which allows the student to graduate with LLB (Hons) (with Professional Placement) degree, which few other universities offer. At present we have one firm, HL Interactive, with whom the Law School has forged strong links and who have provided significant placement opportunities to students over the years.

Based in the centre of Manchester, HL Interactive covers a wide range of services including credit service, conveyancing, litigation and negligence.
