If you take the full-time MRes (Journalism), you will study a core research module in each semester, each of which develops your knowledge and skills in research and culminates in the production of a 60 credit Research Project on an aspect of Journalism of your choosing. Complementing your study of research processes and techniques in semesters one and two, you will be able to choose an optional module from the taught postgraduate suite in Journalism at Salford. The work that you do here will enrich your subject knowledge of Journalism to a high level and, additionally, can be applied to the design and completion of the MRes Research Project in Semester 3.

If you study the MRes (Journalism) on a part-time basis, in Year 1 you will take the Research Methods and Methodologies module, followed in semester 2 by an option of your choice from the taught postgraduate suite of modules in Journalism at Salford. In semester 3, you will study the Formulating Research Projects module. Your Year 2 studies will commence with an option of your choosing from the taught postgraduate suite of modules in Journalism at Salford, leading, in semesters 2 and 3, to the completion of the MRes Research Project.
