Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
English Language Requirements
For admission to course of study at the University an applicant whose native tongue is not English must possess a current qualification deemed acceptable by the University as evidence of proficiency in the English Language. Such a qualification must equate to a minimum average score of 6.5 or above (and for each component 5 or above) from the Cambridge/British Council English Language Testing Service (IELTS) or alternative examinations as recognized by the University.)

This course would suit individuals already working in social justice organisations who wish to move within the sector, those beginning their careers who want to ensure the development of skills and knowledge required by employers in these fields and individuals with an interest in human rights, legal empowerment and social justice.
Applicant profile
This course would be suitable for professionals already working in a broad range of grassroots organisations, who wish to capitalise on their existing skills and knowledge and gain the broader qualifications and skills to progress within the sector.
This course will also be suitable for applicants who have a first degree at 2:2 or above and who are interested in working or researching in human rights and social justice and who would like to gain the skills and knowledge required by many entry level positions in the sector.
It would also be suitable for those who have professional experience or degree in another discipline (logistics/ finance/ health/ science, etc) and wish to use that specialism in a social justice context.
