Graduate Diploma Health
- International students can apply
Please note that you do not apply for this course through UCAS.
This course will be open to people working in international health care contexts or environments, who wish to enter postgraduate courses in health but do not hold the necessary entry criteria for university Masters level study.
Graduate Diploma courses are aimed at applicants who already possess a Pass, Ordinary or Honours Degree or equivalent and who wish to gain a level 6 qualification either because their original degree qualification is in a different subject or because they do not meet the English language requirement for admission to higher level awards.
You should have:
- a Bachelor’s degree from a UK University (Pass, Ordinary or Honours) or equivalent
- some existing level 6 post-qualifying modules, but insufficient to make up the award of first degree
or
- an undergraduate qualification recognised as equivalent to a good honour’s degree but lack the English Language proficiency to enter a Master’s course.
Candidates whose native tongue is not English must possess a current qualification deemed acceptable by the University as evidence of proficiency in the English language.
Such a qualification for this programme must equate to a minimum average score of 5.5 or above (and for each component no less than 5.5) from the Cambridge/British Council English Language Testing Service (IELTS) which provides a common international basis for the elaboration of language syllabuses, curriculum, examinations etc. This is broadly comparable to a classification of B2 under the Common European Framework (CEF).
The School requires that applicants must have two satisfactory references.
Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
English Language Requirements
You can undertake the Graduate Diploma in Health if you are a health professional with an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent and looking to enhance your language skills; or with some degree level credits, but insufficient to enable you to access Masters Study.
